Using the Seventh-day Adventist Hymnal

The South Pacific Division (SPD) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church have produced and released a digital version of the Seventh-day Adventist Hymnal.  This digital version is available as an XML File that SlideGen can import.  Furthermore, the church has allowed the owners of SlideGen to package and redistribute the hymnal within its software, to simplify the use of the hymnal by members of the church.

When SlideGen is first installed, it will ask you a series of questions.  One of these questions will determine whether you are eligible to install the hymnal.  For legal reasons, the hymnal can only be used by "Seventh-day Adventist churches and affiliated entites".  Assuming you meet the necessary criteria, the easiest way to install the hymnal is when you first run SlideGen.

If you did not install the hymnal when running SlideGen for the first time (or you have upgraded from a previous version) you can do so later at any time by going to the External Folders tab on the main window

All of the 695 hymns in the hymnal are listed in this digital edition.  However, not all of the hymns listed contain lyrics - some are just a listing only.  The lyrics are only included for public domain hymns, and those hymns covered by a license from Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI).  In order to view and use the lyrics covered by CCLI, you must have purchased a CCLI license and entered these details within Setup Options.

For more detailed information about the hymnal and SlideGen's arrangement with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, see the following page on the SlideGen website:

Audio Collections

Recordings under the album title Piano Praise are available for a number of public domain hymns - for use in congregational singing, when live musicians are not available.  These musical accompaniments are made available on the Audio Collections tab.  If you have already installed the above hymnal, any recordings that you subsequently download will automatically attach to the corresponding hymns within the
Seventh-day Adventist Hymnal.  So it is recommend that you install the External Folder first for the hymnal, then download any desired audio tracks.

Copyright Reporting

The release of the Seventh-day Adventist Hymnal via SlideGen to
Seventh-day Adventist Churches does not automatically give those churches the right to project the hymnal's lyrics.  All lyrics not in the public domain can only be used under the cover of a valid license from CCLI.  Proper usage of those lyrics includes correct reporting to CCLI as per the terms of a CCLI license.
