MAIN WINDOW - GENERAL
For an explanation
of each menu item, see below. Some items are clickable for
further information. Not all items are visible at all times: for
the Standalone Edition it depends on which
role you are running as; for the Database Edition is depends what features a user has been given access to.

- Change Role to
(Standalone
Edition only) -
This
allows
you to set the "role" that the application operates
in. There are three available roles - "Catalogue Browser",
"Check-in / Check-out" and "Super User". This controls what
features are available to the user. Not all features are
available in all roles.
- Import
Catalogue File - choose
this if you have a list of items stored in an external file that you
want to import. When running the Standalone Edition, this feature is only
available to the Super User role.
- Import
Person File - choose this if you have
person information stored in an external file that you want to
import. When
running
the
Standalone Edition, this feature is only
available to
the Super User
role.
- Exit - choose this to quit the
application in the normal way. This is the same as selecting the
Close button at the top-right of the main window.

- Cut - Cuts the currently selected
text to the clipboard. Standard Windows functionality.
- Copy - Copies the currently selected
text to the clipboard. Standard Windows functionality.
- Paste - Pastes the currently
selected text from the clipboard. Standard Windows functionality.

- Standard Theme - Select this to use
the standard color theme for Baslogue
- Dark Theme - Select this to use the
dark color theme. This is ideal if using the dark mode in Windows
10, but will work in all versions of Windows.
- Legacy Theme - Select this to use
the color theme that was used in version 1 of Baslogue. This
theme also uses the "native" control style based on the version of
Windows you are running.

- Cheat Sheet
- Displays
a cheat sheet,
so that it can be printed. When running the Standalone Edition, this feature is only
available to
the Super User
role.
- Barcode
Labels -
Allows you to print
barcodes on to label paper, so that you can physically stick them on to
you catalogue items for scanning. When running the Standalone
Edition, this
feature is only available to the
Super User role.
- Person
Listing -
Allows you to print a list of all people listed on the People tab. When running the Standalone
Edition, this
feature is only available to the Super User role.

- Security
(Standalone
Edition only) -
this
is
where you set the
passwords for accessing the Check-in / Check-out role and the Super
User role. By default there are no passwords for any roles.
The Catalogue Browser role cannot have a password. This feature is only
available to
the Super User
role.
- User Security
(Database Edition only) - this is where you define which users have
access to Baslogue®, and what features of Baslogue®
they have access to.
Only users marked as Super Users have access to the menu option.
- Display
Options - set options
for how your data will be displayed - such as the title used for people
displayed by the system and the columns shown for catalogue items. This dialog also
allows you to set up the ISBN Lookup
feature. When
running
the Standalone
Edition, this
dialog is only available to the
Super User role.
- Backup and
Restore (Standalone Edition only) - allows you to backup and
restore your data. This
feature is only available to the Super User role.
- Modify Report Layouts -
this allows you to adjust the standard layouts that are installed with
the software. This includes the printing of barcode labels, the
person listing report, and the printing of Person ID cards.
If
the stationery that you are using does not match up with the standard
layouts, this is where you go to adjust the layouts (margins, paper
size, etc...).
When
running the Standalone Edition, this feature is only
available to the Super User role.

- Baslogue® Help - gives
access to the
documentation that you are reading now.
- Check for new version -
Checks if there is a new version of the software available for
download. Only works if you have an active internet connection. When running the Standalone
Edition, this
feature is only available to the
Super User role.
- Email a
bug report - allows you to notify us of a problem that you
have experienced while using the software.
- About Baslogue® - gives information about
the application, such as its version number, copyright information,
etc...
