IMPORTING A CATALOGUE FILE

If you already have a list of items in a file that you want to import (instead of manually entering them one-by-one) you can do this via the "File | Import Catalogue File" menu option on the Main Window.

The file must be in Comma Separated Values (CSV) format. You can create these by hand using a text editor, but it is much easier to create one by using a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft^® Excel and then save the file in CSV format using "Save As" and selecting the file type CSV, sometimes called "comma delimited" format.

In order to be a valid Import File, there are some characteristics which it must have:

The first row of the spreadsheet (row 1) must contain column headings, defining what data is stored in that column. The columns may appear in any order. Not all columns need to be in a file. Allowable column headings are

Every other row in the spreadsheet must contain data - no blank lines are allowed. Each data row will be imported as a new Catalogue Item. If you have the same item repeated on more than one row, you will get one catalogue item created for each row.
